At age 49 Helen was told by a yoga teacher that she wasn’t breathing properly, and realised that she probably hadn’t since a teenager experiencing the anxiety of exams. In November 2016 her shoulders were up around her ears, and her neck and back were completely rigid; she could hardly move them. Despite starting a daily yoga practise at that time, it was a two year journey to fully release the chronic pain and tension that had built up over years in her shoulders, neck and stomach.
Learning to retrain her breath had a transformational effect which finally allowed her to calm the ‘little voice’ inside her head, which eventually led to qualifying as a Yoga teacher in January 2020. Yogi Beer was born out of a desire to help others to start or continue their own yoga journey whether by private classes or coming to beautiful Beer village for a yoga holiday.
